We were asked by ESE Ltd. to film the first phase of the upgrade project being carried out at Stwlan Dam in Blaenau Ffestiniog. The project involves the laying of a new cable system to transfer power from the power station to the dam which is several hundred meters above in the Snowdonia National Park.
To transport materials up the mountain a helicopter was used. Our team and the helicopter pilot agreed a safe operating distance and discussed flight paths before any flights took place. Using our drones we were able to film the entire operation from the air. We filmed the helicopter making multiple drop offs up the mountain from a safe distance. We also got a range of handheld shots which we used along with the aerial video to create a promotional video for ESE ltd. Looking forward to going back to film phase 2.
