Freelance: BBC Historical Documentary Filmed in Anglesey

DJI Inspire Drone Llanddwyn Island TV Production BBC Aerial Film and Photography Services North Wales

Over the last month, 4 families from around the UK have traded in the comforts of the modern day in the experience of a life time. Participants have been living in the Pilots Cottages on Llanddwyn Island in Anglesey which have been converted to recreate what life might have been like in remote a fishing community in the early 20th century. Filmed and produced by Wildflame Productions from Cardiff, the show is set for release on BBC 2 in late 2019.

Off The Ground were involved with this project from the very beginning, providing aerial video of the location and surroundings for the pilot. On the first day of the shoot we filmed in somewhat testing conditions at various locations along the Menai Strait as the families travelled to their new homes for the month.

Joining up with them again later in the week we filmed the group fishing at sea from the deck a period Scooner boat. With limited deck space and lots of rigging we opted to use a hand take-off and leading technique to avoid any unwanted collisions.

All in all it was a very challenging but enjoyable shoot working alongside a great production team.

Final release date to be confirmed
